If condition is not too much of a problem, then this is certainly a worthwhile collection, representing worldwide as collected in the late ,19th ,and very early ,20th ,century. The album is falling apart and was very probably printed in the ,19th ,century. Better countries include Portugal with imperf Luiz to 100reis, Norway with beat up skilling issues of Oscars, lions and posthorns, even a Trondheim local, Netherlands inc #1 and #3, both four margined, a good range of Hamburg perf and imperf, Greek Hermes heads including half a dozen or so extras tucked in the sides, GB with penny black 4 margins with red maltese cross stuck down, also 1841 2d blue and much further high cataloging material in the ,19th ,century, France from first issue Ceres heads including a 1fr with 4 generous margins but again glued to the hinge to the page, Napoleon heads to 80cts, Peace and Commerce to 5fr, etc, also Denmark inc 16sk rouletted as well as 4sk imperf spandrels, etc. Germany in 19th century revenues, Cyprus inc penny red o/ps, Portuguese Cols inc Cape Verde mint, Malaya Straits Settlements, India, Japan, Canada with 3d beaver stuck down on piece, USA inc 90cts Perry red and early 30cts Franklin used and a few 24cts designs, etc. Catalogue will ,should run into ,the tens of thousands of dollars, however you will need much patience and of course much of this will be damaged, as well as some unsuccessful attempts when soaking off the pages! Nevertheless an exciting lot well worth spending time on with huge potential.
Several hundred stamps, as collected from one generation to the next, meaning not only is there much classic there is also material to the 1940s, in certain cases well filling up a number of countries. The ,20th ,century tends to be hinged and the ,19th ,century of course stuck down and the condition is varied. Better , countries include Australian States inc QV imperfs, Van Diemen&rsquo,s land imperfs, South Australia, New South Wales, etc. Similarly half a dozen NZ imperf from Chalon heads etc. Also a number of British West indies and then Mexico, GB with extensive back of the book, USA inc second issue 10cts Washington, 1869 2cts, turn of the century pan-Pacifics to 4cts and 5cts, etc. Also better BNA inc very generous margins Newfoundland 5cts seal, Canada with ,1/2 penny imperf with 3 large margins, QV widowheads to high value 20cts, Egypt, Japan, Ottoman Empire with BOB, Swiss with unusual imperf locals 'hotel du right coulm' and 'Rigi-Scheideck', etc. Russia with Tsarist issues, Portuguese classics, Italian State imprfs well deserving investigation, Greek Hermes heads, France imperfs onwards, etc. Quite chaotic, completely uncataloged with an interesting range of non-Scott listed as well, covering the gamut of condition with viewing highly recommended.
Old-time collection of many hundreds of mint and used stamps housed in ,four 19th century European albums in various states of wear and tear. One is an abridged edition, the other three while not abridged have been considerably battered! Material seen includes British Guiana early ships, GB with spacefiller penny black, 1840 2d blue and lots of non Scott listed back of the book inc. unusual classic long black and red QV stamp office duty stamps, Cape of Good Hope triangulars, US inc. 24cts Scott and 90cts Perry, 2cts blackjack, French revenues and beat-up 5fr Napoleon, non Scott listed German locals inc. Bergedorf, Norwegian and Copenhagen locals, Switzerland with Strubeli imperfs to 40rp, Hong Kong early issues, Japan with lots of interesting revenues, Shanghai, Canada inc. 10cts Prince Albert, 20cts orange widowhead, Western Australia 1/- green swan, lots of New Zealand with Chalon heads perf and imperf, lighthouse officials, postage dues to 5d, a dozen stamp duty issues with first issues 5/- and 10/-, later QV 10/-, etc, railway newspapers, treasury, audit, all interesting, and much more. Condition of course is very mixed as to be expected, nevertheless 4 very engaging albums.
An 1879 edition Oppen's stamp album with 100s of mint and used stamps, with very few hinge remainders seen. We note GB 1840 penny black (beat-up), early revenues, railway locals, 1883 5/- rose x2, one with perfins, 1d lilac with fourteen dots, mint penny reds, 2/- blue, 3d on 3d lilac surcharge, etc. Other good areas are the Germany with large and small shields, Scandinavian locals, British Asia particularly the Hong Kong with surcharges and the Straits Settlements, as well as New Zealand with Chalon heads, etc. Also interesting US with 1869 2cts and 6cts grill, Columbus to 30cts and British North America. Condition very mixed as to be expected with collections of this early era. Please inspect thoroughly as sleepers ,may be present.
Many thousands of stamps mint and used, cram-packed in a Strand album from the 19th century onwards generally stopping around the 1950s. Better countries include Great Britain with lots of line-engraved from penny black, as well as imperf 1841 tupenny blues inc. maltese cross cancel, a penny red number '7' in maltese cross, followed by lots of other perf penny reds, various later QV inc. 1/- green x2, 1/- green and red, EDVII to 1/- plus scarce 1d 'admiralty official' o/p through to 1953 coronations, etc. Interesting China also present with 19th century surcharges inc. 1ct on 1 candarin salmon, 2cts on 2cn green, 5cts on 5cn orange and 8cts on 6cn brown, as well as a beat-up 10cts on 9cn green all unidentified for types and deserving further research, then a range of Imperial dragons inc. overprints, republic junks and hall of classics $2, through to postage due of Tientsin, etc. Japan also useful with emperors and lots of chrysanthemums inc. offices in China, Thailand with 'atts' surcharges, Straits Settlements, US with very beat-up Columbians to 15cts as well as Omaha 8cts, etc , etc. Completely uncataloged, should be looked at carefully page for page, much more here than described.
