1221 Early State of Texas documents accumulation of over 25 documents of various types, mostly court documents from 1848 to 1860, but we note an 1862 writ of habeas corpus in the Confederate period, includes deeds, receipts, indictments and petitions, etc., also three stock certificates of railway companies and an 1857 land grant to the commissioners of the school district of Ellis county, signed by Elisha Pease, Governor of Texas, also some contemporaneous clippings of article and illustrations from Harper's Weely about Texas during the war, mostly fine-very fine for this type of material and interesting; ex-Bleuler. 1222 c Texas Confederate States period correspondence of over 45 letters and documents of 1861-64 while Texas was part of the CSA and includes some official military forms of the Confederacy, most is personal correspondence and much is of the Abner S. Lodan family of Cherokee County and includes letters to and from a soldier, includes a dozen or so envelopes with some of the letters but mostly hand carried with no postal markings, we note one with a "Rusk/Texas/May 15" c.d.s. with an 1861 enclosure, another hand carried adversity cover to Rusk made from a printed form, condition is very mixed with stains and rough wear from a difficult time, but interesting research material from the Confederate period of Texas; ex-Bleuler. 1223 c Texas Confederate correspondence of a soldier, includes over 40 letters to and from Lt. Allen A. Cameron of Cherokee Co., Texas, only six have original envelopes with most hand carried but one is a wallpaper envelope, starts with one that has a "Rusk/Texas/Jan 18" c.d.s. (U.S. stamp removed) to Crockett, Texas, delightful enclosure datelined "Rusk, Texas Jany 18/61", which would be just prior to secession of Texas from the Union, in which he makes an overture to correspond with this young lady named Ann or Anna, a name that crops up later as signatures on letters addressed to "My Dearest Husband," undoubtedly interesting reading and may have some interesting war information as Cameron was stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas, most are fine-very fine; ex-Bleuler. 1224 Oc Abraham Lincoln memorial album celebrating the life and work of this popular president and mourning his assassination, this album displays about 50 items relating to Lincoln, the most impressive items of seldom seen material are several high quality contemporaneous portrait engravings including one of Lincoln and his cabinet in cameo portraits, there are numerous unused patriotic envelopes, letter sheets and song sheets with a number published by Charles Magnus, two Magnus items that bear mentioning are four full front covers in hand colors called "Review of the Army" showing Lincoln with four different generals and a gorgeous hand colored letter sheet with an extra-large panoramic view of the funeral cortege in New York, unused patriotic covers of other publishers include the scarce set of five "Champion Prize Envelope Lincoln and Davis in 5 Rounds" by J.H. Tingley, philatelicly there are a couple of nice used #77's, which are considered by many to be a Lincoln commemorative, a single rate cover and a triple rate cover with strip of three of this stamp are posted to France, plus a used #122 and proofs of these two stamps, also a number of mementos of Lincoln's political campaigns and mourning memorabilia after his death, the collection concludes with an autographed signature card of Andrew Johnson, who became President after Lincoln' assassination dated May 17th 1868; a beautiful album honoring this most worthy President; ex-Bleuler. 1226 c Air mail cover exceptional collection of over 250 covers and numerous photo and view cards, this lovely collection starts with a collection of over 40 view cards of pioneer air craft and aviation including a magnificent set of eleven multicolor and gold accented cards prepared for the 1909 Paris Aviation Meet, others include many actual photo cards of early aircraft, the collection is then arranged in chronological order starting with a pioneer flight or two, numerous government flights using the first two issues, some of which are first flight covers with some very desirable covers and nice frankings in this period, a section on Charles Lindbergh with covers and photographs, includes domestic flights and flights to foreign countries, even some Zeppelin covers are found interspersed throughout as they relate to the United States, the collection concludes with a nice selection of FDC's of United States stamps, in addition to the covers the the collection has numerous view cards and various types of memorabilia worked in throughout that make the collection both attractive and interesting, fine-very fine; a wonderful and valuable collection that traces the history of air mail in the United States; certainly a collection that needs to be examined to appreciate its interesting qualities and desirable material; ex-Bleuler. 1227 c Air mail and first flight cover accumulation of over 275 covers, about 125 covers are FAM first flights to various foreign countries, the largest portion are in the Pacific and Asian areas but also including transatlantic, Caribbean and Latin America, includes foreign postings on these routes back to the United States, the rest are domestic flights and a fair number of FDC's of U.S. air mail stamps with some better, the domestic flights include a few better earlier including a 1911 pioneer flight in Albany, Georgia and a forwarded 1918 cover used on the route Philadelphia to Washington and then back again when it was forwarded, each leg franked by a #C2, also includes several air mail related photographs including two original press photos of Charles Lindbergh, overall fine-very fine; an interesting and useful accumulation; ex-Bleuler. 1228 c Alaska Territory postal history collection in large binder, this collection basically traces the gold rush in Alaska and the Canadian Yukon consisting of 10 covers and 25 picture post cards, some of which are used from Alaska, the earliest cover is a an 1898 cover right at the start of the gold rush with "U.S. Post Office/Alaska/Nov 7 1898" duplex (pictured on page 178 of Postmarks of Territorial Alaska by Richard Helbock), marked "no stamps" and sent postage due, other early covers are from Fort Yukon, Nome, Rampart and Cordova, also includes cards and covers posted out of Canada in the same time period from White Horse and Dawson, well written up and an interesting collection fine-very fine; ex-Bleuler. 1229 c Alaska Territory large cover accumulation consisting of over 850 covers, virtually all are prior to statehood however the vast majority are from the 1940's to 1950's, though there is duplication it includes a great range of different town markings plus interesting types of mail such as sled dog covers, emergency air mail and railroad covers, etc., there is also a handful of covers from the first part of the 20th century until about 1920, of greatest importance are an 1893 Klawack (Klawock) registered cover, 1898 Mary Island cover and even a couple of 19th century covers from Sitka as early as 1885, condition varies but the vast majority are fine-very fine; also includes some philatelic literature on the postal history of Alaska; ex-Bleuler. 1235 c Great White Fleet extensive and specialized collection of the memorabilia and postal history of the world cruise that took place from December 1907 to March 1909 by the American Fleet to convey to the world the United States' superior naval power, contained in four large binders on meticulously written-up pages, post cards make up a large portion of the collection with over 135 cards showing the various ships including some in matched sets and some with the postmarks of the ship in the approximate time of the cruise, includes panoramic cards of the fleet and a number of actual photo cards, certain countries, especially Australia and Japan, had cards celebrating the fleet's visit, there are approximately 25 cards from each of those two countries plus others, some are officially issued cards and some are posted including several with the special commemorative cancel for the American Fleet's visit to Japan, of special interest is a correspondence of a dozen covers posted at various ports on the cruise by A.F. White to Louie A. White, a well known Detroit stamp collector, White was on the crew of the U.S.S. "Yankton", the escort ship to the American Fleet that was used on ceremonial occasions, six of these have letters and there are also a couple of letters without covers, on her way from Hampton Roads around Cape Horn to California he posted covers from Chile, Peru and Mexico, the last containing a letter with an interesting description of their stopover at the Galapagos Islands, also includes covers posted from New Zealand, Australia, Philippine Islands (both visits), Japan, Ceylon, Egypt and France, in addition to the covers and cards there are dozens of items of collateral including, programs and invitations for events on the cruise, booklets produced by various countries and magazines about the fleet's cruise as this was really a big world event at the time, all is in fine-very fine condition; there is a small postscript of fifteen covers and cards of the U.S.S. "Texas", a naval ship that did not accompany the cruise; a marvelous collection of this unique naval event that would be virtually impossible to duplicate; ex-Bleuler. Est. $4,000-5,000
