Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
141 og 363 image#363, 8c Olive green on bluish paper, an incredibly fresh and choice mint example of this important 20th century rarity, being in a condition which is far superior to the vast majority of the fewer than 90 examples that exist in private hands, gloriously rich color that is strikingly intense and an impression which could not be more deeply incised on bright crisp paper, wonderfully well centered and margined, particularly when compared to most existing copies, unusually clean full o.g. that has been lightly hinged, a very fine and highly desirable example of a stamp that is missing in even the most advanced collections of United States stamps; signed H.F. Colman and accompanied by a 1999 PF certificate. (Image) 26,000.00

SOLD for $19,000.00

148 O 389 image#389, 3c Deep violet, Ty. I, "Orangeburg Coil", perf. 12 vert., an extraordinarily well centered used single of this incredibly rare coil that virtually never comes centered, intensely rich color and deeply etched impression, neat wavy line cancel that is the hallmark of this issue as these were nearly all used in the same way, being specifically issued for Bell Pharmaceutical Co. to mail samples to doctors. light and barely discernible diagonal crease, a factor that is hardly a flaw on this issue as many of the existing copies were damaged (usually creasing) due to the fact that the contents of the doctor's sample envelope was a bit bulky, in all other respects an extremely fine stamp and certainly one of the finest examples available of this 20th century rarity; 1992 PF certificate. (Image) 12,000.00

SOLD for $10,500.00
