354 pP 2 image#2, 1863 2r Scarlet, used in combination with Great Britain #43, 1872 4d Vermilion, plate 13, the Costa Rican adhesive with short perforation at upper left corner, tied to small piece by barred numeral "1" cancellation corresponding to Punta Arenas, being also cancelled by the "C35" obliterator applied on the 6d denomination at the British P.O. in Panama, an extremely rare combination franking, of great desirability for both collectors of Costa Rica and British Post Offices abroad; ex-Frohlich.The Costa Rican franking was required to pay the external rate, and the Great Britain franking would have paid the additional portion of the journey from the Isthmus to, most probably, a destination in the Pacific Coast of South America.
