1814 Ograded 537a image#537a, 3c Deep red violet, a wonderful used example of this very scarce and difficult shade, being exceptionally well centered within generous margins, which is quite unlike nearly all other examples, as these are normally quite off center, in fact the Scott catalog value is for only fine centering, intense unmistakable color, "Salem, Ohio" precancel as most often, extremely fine; clearly one of the finest used examples extant; photocopy of 2001 PF certificate for a block of four, this being the top right stamp and 2006 PSE certificate erroneously stating "unused o.g., never hinged" (XF 90, the highest graded used example and the only one to achieve this grade; SMQ $2,600.00).
