2082 ngbl Hellrigl #7b, a imageHellrigl #7b, c. 1886-89 1a Dark blue, early printings on native paper of good quality, imperforate, tete-beche pair, left margin block of 31, positions 1/60, being one half of a sheet less only the top right corner stamp (pos.4), setting 8 (or possibly 9), contains two tete-beche pairs with inverted cliches 52 and 59, unused without gum as issued, large wide margins all around, first two words of the inscription at top and sheet margins at the left and bottom showing traces of the sheet framelines, nice clear color and impression, this block also contains constant or progressive plate flaws in positions 12, 25, 27-28, 33 and 4, unobtrusive horiz. folds between 3rd and 4th and 6th and 7th rows, very fine and suitable for display (Scott #7 var., a var.; S.G. #7, a; £4,980+). 2083 ngbl Hellrigl #7b, c imageHellrigl #7b, c,1886-89 1a Dark blue, early printings on native paper of good quality, imperforate, complete sheet of 64, setting 8, unused without gum as issued, this setting is characterized by the inscription reading inwards and being only at top with sheet framelines on the other three sides about 6-7mm from the stamps, virtually all the known sheets of this setting are trimmed to these lines, three inverted cliches are found in positions 52, 59 and 62 making three horiz. or vert. tete-beche pairs possible, in addition sixteen constant plate flaws are present plus another eight progressive flaws, this sheet is particularly fresh with a scarcer clear blue color, lighter than often seen but in the dark blue family, on bright paper, light and unobtrusive horiz. and vert. folds between rows in the center of the sheet as all sheets normally have, very fine; choice sheet of this setting being the first setting on native paper that full sheets are known for the One Anna value (Scott #7 var, a var.; S.G. #7, a; £9,920+). 2086 ng Hellrigl #8, a imageHellrigl #8, 1886-89 2a (Deep) violet, early printings on native paper of good quality, imperforate, reconstructed complete sheet of 64, setting 6, unused without gum as issued, this sheet is noted by Hellrigl as having been cut into blocks of eight, probably for easier dispatch to England, these have been carefully rejoined to make an accurate example of the setting, this setting is characterizes by having the inscription reading inwards at top only, the last two words are joined as in setting 5 but the whole inscription is shifted 6mm to the right compared to setting 5, sheet framelines are set somewhat wider than the 1a value being about 13mm from the stamps, traces on all three sides of this sheet, only one cliche is inverted, position 21, making the tete-beche pairs on the early native paper printings quite rare there is a half dozen constant plate flaws and double that number in progressive and transfer cliche flaws, color is intense violet and paper is fresh, additionally impressions are especially clear, very fine; a rare sheet even considering its reconstruction as only three or four sheets are known ex-Haverbeck (Scott # 8 var., a var.; S.G. #8, a: £8,040+). 2087 ngbl Hellrigl #8, a imageHellrigl #8, a, 1886-89 2a Violet on native paper of good quality, imperforate, reconstructed partial sheet of two blocks of 20 and three blocks of 8, setting 6, all positions are represented except for positions 37-40/45-48, but it includes 64 stamps since some blocks overlap resulting in two of the inverted cliche position 21 in one block of 20 and a block of eight, all blocks are fresh and attractive with full to wide margins, shades of the various blocks match quite closely, very fine and a valuable reconstruction that is nearly complete; ex-Garratt-Adams (Scott #8 var., a var; S.G. #8, a; £8,400). 2089 ng Hellrigl #9 imageHellrigl #9, 1886-89 2a Dark blue, error of color, on native paper of good quality, imperforate, setting 5, unused without gum as issued, a spectacular single of this rare and little known error, wonderfully deep strong color and excellent impression, exceptionally well centered within lavishly large margins, extremely fine; a great rarity that had not been listed prior to the Hellrigl/Vignola handbook though it is noted, but not listed, in a footnote in Stanley Gibbons; this error is characterized by being in a dark blue color matching shades of dark blue in the 1a value; it is found only in setting 5 of which examples are very scarce in their own right even in the violet shades; a very important addition to a specialized collection of classic Nepal; 1986 Hellrigl certificate (Scott #8 var.; S.G. #8 var). 2090 ng Hellrigl #9 var. imageHellrig #9 var., 1l886-89 2a Dark blue, error of color, on native paper of good quality, imperforate, setting 5, position 58, unused without gum as issued, showing a transferred cliche plate flaw of dent in left margin, this is one of the more striking plate flaws for this value that moved to other positions after setting 8; more importantly this is a second example of the very rare error of color in dark blue, similar to the previous lot though not as heavily inked, yet it shows none of the red required for violet, excellent impression, remarkably well centered within large to extremely large margin at bottom; extremely fine (Scott #8 var.; S.G. #8 var.). 2099 ngbl Hellrigl #11b, c imageHellrigl #11b, c, 1889-98 1a Dull Blue, later printings on native paper of good quality, imperforate, complete sheet of 64, setting 16, unused without gum as issued, this sheet lacks the top inscription having been trimmed leaving balanced ample margins all around showing tracing of the sheet framelines at sides, however the setting is easily told by the four inverted cliches in positions 16, 46, 51 and 64, this combination is found only in this setting, attractive dull blue color on fresh paper that is now of somewhat lesser quality rather smudgy impression of these printings as this was printed in the 1896-97 period, includes the numerous plate flaws occurring in this value including the recut cliche inverted in position 64, it also has a pre-printing paper fold in the center of the sheet affecting three stamps one vertical and and two horizontal between rows, small holes in three positions apparently from insect damage still fine a rare sheet; this isone of two sheets of this setting, (Scott #7,a; $1,860.00+; S.G. #10, a; £1,528+).
