2223 ngbl Hellrigl #43f, g imageHellrigl #43f, g, 1917-30 4a Yellow green on native paper, imperforate, tete-beche pair, setting 12, unused right margin block of four, positions 47-48/54-56, position 56 being the inverted cliche, without gum as issued, large to extra-large margins all around, fresh color and paper, nice impression that confirms the inverted cliche, very fine; this is an exceptionally rare tete-beche pair that is not reflected by the catalog values; position 56 is found inverted in setting 12 only this makes tete-beche pairs of this position at least as rare as the 1a green error of color which also exists only in setting 12, the setting is confirmed in this block by the misalignment of position 56 that only exists in setting 12; identifiable tete-beche pairs different than position 54 are extremely rare (Scott #17, a; $490.00; S.G. #41, a; £452). 2233 ngbl   1898-1930 Large mint collection of over 600 stamps, mostly in singles and pairs but including a few larger blocks, collected by shade as listed in Hellrigl, without gum as issued, over half of the stamps are in the postal issues but a much large percentage of the value is in these issues as well, with well over half of the total value in the 1898-1907 imperforate and pin-perforated postal issues on poor quality paper but still fairly decent impressions (S.G. #13-21), there are 26 tete-beche pairs in this section and over 50 tete-beche pairs in total, other postal issues include the early issues of the ½a Black and the 1a Blue imperforate and pin-perforated recut frame issues, the telegraph period has over 250 stamps including some larger blocks but a much smaller portion of the value even though mint stamps of this period can be elusive as most were used with telegraph cancels, there are six used ½a Red orange (the only used in the collection; accompanied by four Hellrigl certificates), one nice feature that is found throughout are the plate positions that show the various plate flaws that are found in the different values, condition overall is quite clean, a few faults are to be expected in a collection of this size but the vast majority are fine-very fine or better; a wonderful mint collection for varieties and the study of these issues; accompanied by 26 Hellrigl certificates (Scott #7/29A; S.G. #13/42; well in excess of £40,0000). 2238 Pc   imageWerner #1aP, 1887 2p Postal card, black die proof on European thin surfaced card, an attractive lightly typographed proof that at first glance appears lithographed but careful examination shows the telltale typographic spread, card measures 172x109mm, all of the elements correspond with the very first state of the postal card showing in particular the first state of the horse, in addition this appears to have been a working proof of the printer as a small extraneous extension to the top left ornament is circled in ink to be corrected on the die, very fine; this is a unique proof of the Nepal's First Postal Card mentioned by Werner in his Catalogue of Postal Stationery and a lovely exhibition piece; ex-Haverbeck (H&G #1P).
