Mint and Used
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
341 ogObl   Substantial mint and used balance of the Emmons collection , an interesting collection formed in the 1950's and 1960's by a serious and well informed collector, often acquired from important collections of famous collectors of the time, contains over 425 singles plus another couple hundred stamps in 50 multiples from pairs to blocks as large as 25, covers the period of the 1851 Imperforates to about 1920, the collection starts with 40 used of the 1851-57 Imperforates with a nice study of the 1c Blues, includes other mint and used of the 19th century with good value in the 1869 Pictorials with values to the 30c, excellent range of mostly mint early to late Bank Notes, also includes some better commemoratives with mint Columbians complete to the 30c and a used $3.00 value, Trans-Mississippi issue mint to the 50c and a used $1.00, twentieth century includes both commemoratives and regular issues including some coils, a particular strong section is the officials which are mostly the 1873 Continental issues collected mint and used with a fair number of mint and used blocks of four, we also note a few Confederate States values and some local issues, condition varies but the collector was actually quite selective with far less faults than most collections formed in this period, mint normally has o.g., but a few unused are present, officials vary in centering, many being fine centering as normal, but throughout this collection very fine will be found; a valuable collection with total Scott value in excess of #85,000.00; certainly a collection well worth examining. Est. $10,000-15,000
