The exceedingly choice quality of this stamp can not be overemphasized. 336 O 2 var. image#20 var., 2c Black, Plate 5-C, Type IX (position 9), a seldom encountered premium used example of this white paper issue, in addition this stamp shows an unlisted variety of widely spaced "Hawaiian" and "Postage" making the type 22mm long instead of 20mm, four large even margins, crisp impression on fresh paper, neat black square grid cancel, extremely fine; type IX of the 2c value seems to have been problematic to the printer and apparently was altered and reset several times as noted on other type IX stamps, this is clearly type IX and on white paper making this a very rare variety that we were able to find little recorded about it; ex-Caspary.
