509 c   Confederate States substantial postal history balance consisting of 36 covers, starts with an attractive stampless cover of Charleston, S.C. and a CSA usage of U.S. #26 tied by nice Savannah, Ga. c.d.s. after secession, the rest are covers with CSA adhesives including nine with #1 frankings including one on patriotic cover, two with pairs and two others with mixed usages including one with a #4 and another with a #6, also includes four 10c Blue covers (#2), one with a Hoyer printing, three #4 covers all with pairs and a 10c Rose (#5) tied by Cartersville, Ga. c.d.s. to Savannah, the rest are later issues of the 5c Blue (#6, 7) and 10c Blue (#11, 12) including a single franking of #7 and three turned covers with all stamps present, in addition to the covers there is also a soldier's letter, and a Picket Register dated Fairfax Court House, July 11, 1861 condition varies but most covers are fine-very fine or better; a nice Confederate collection well worth examining. 517 og/nh OblPB   Mint regular issue extensive collection of hundreds of singles, blocks of four and plate blocks in a lighthouse album, the concentration is in the 20th century but includes a very few early 19th century including the very few used such as two #1 and a #2, the mint starts in earnest with the 1890 Small Bank Note issue cplt. less the 4c value, regular issues are then found through the Washington-Franklin issues to the 1970s, sets become more complete as the collection progresses with the 1917-19 perf. 11, 1922-25 Regular issue including centerline block of four of the $5.00, Kansas-Nebraska overprints, 1938 Presidentials and the Liberty series all complete with the last also complete in plate blocks of four, more significant than the normal singles and blocks are the varieties that are found throughout, for example a study of the types and shades of the #319 is found in blocks of four and booklet panes, throughout imperforates and coils are emphasized with many better pairs and line pairs, imperforate coils in strips of four, lots of coil waste issues including better values, lots of booklet panes and a whole section of different mint private vending machine perforations including 36 pairs and twelve strips of four or other multiples including some scarce varieties, condition overall is quite nice, all have o.g., hinged will be found in the earlier issues but a surprising vast majority are never hinged including better dollar values and varieties, overall fine-very fine with faults being the rare exception; this is a collection where examination will be very fruitful revealing unexpected varieties and better values. II from plate 3, better Civil War period issues including a 5c Buff and two 3c Rose with "D" grills (#85), 30c and 90c 1969 Pictorials used, plus numerous Bank Note issues including high values, mint starts to appear in the 20th century but is collected mint and used through the Washington-Franklin issues with better mint throughout, 1922-25 Regular issues complete mint with $2.00 and $5.00 n.h., commemoratives largely complete from the 1920's with a n.h. White Plains souvenir sheet, Kansas-Nebraska cplt. with Nebraska n.h., largely complete from there to 1974, also includes airmails, special deliveries and postage dues, plus parcel posts complete mint, condition varies, faults are present in 19th century but many very collectable sound stamps are found throughout, some earlier unused lack gum, but most with o.g., and n.h. will be found throughout the 20th century, a large proportion are fine-very fine; a substantial collection well worth examining which will reveal some treasures.
