140 ogc U82a Image#U82a, 3c Brown on white, error of color, die 37, size 7, knife 25, wmk. 2, an incredibly rare mint entire of this major color error, which is the only known error of color on the Reay issue, being in extraordinary condition, with excellent color and impression on immaculate paper, plus its edges are quite sharp, extremely fine; one of only six known, with no cut squares recorded, and likely to be among the finest available; remarkably this is the third example of this rarity we have had the pleasure of offering, the first realized $11,550.00 in June 2000 as part of the impressive Dr. Jerry Summers collection sold by this firm (his example had negligible soiling), the second was sold in our March 2002 Premier sale and realized $13,750.00 after spirited bidding, and was in remarkable similar quality to the example offered here (UPSS #171A; $13,000.00).
