1562 og 26a Image#26a, 1883 "FOUR PENCE" inverted surcharge on 6p violet, additionally the watermark is reversed (should merit a separated listing of S.G. #45ax), deep intense color and a sharp detailed impression on fresh white paper, full original gum, trivial h.r., fine; any Four Pence inverted surcharge is rare, but mint examples are especially so, with only a handful known, the rarity of this particular stamp is further magnified by being the only recorded inverted surcharge with a reversed watermark; 1977 RPS and 2005 Brandon certificates (the latter noting the reversed watermark) (S.G. #45a; £18,000+). 1563 O 16 var. Image#16 var., 1883 6c violet, with double "B" overprint, two full distinct overprints, fresh color, light Singapore cancel, minor crease at top right, fine.

Important to note that this recently certified stamp has two full overprints, not a partial double overprint as so many have. The Six Cent value is currently unlisted in Scott and Stanley Gibbons with a double overprint, although they list three other values. We can find no record of any other example.

An extremely rare (if not unique) error. Accompanied by a 2011 BPA certificate (S.G. #19 var.). (Image)
