1840 1d black pl.3 QB/TC mint block of eight, good to huge margins showing portions of neighbouring stamps and left, original gum with some insignificant thin spots and a few light tone spots, horizontal fold between upper and lower
block, a stunning multiple of the difficult plate 3, with this being the largest multiple of plate 3 in private hands.
Note: Illustrated in "The British Philatelist" October 1908 (included) when it was in a block of 12.

1840 1d black pl.4 BA-IA, vertical strip of eight ("DA" showing double letter "D") with good to very large margins on all sides and showing portions of six adjoining stamps at right, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation on slightly
refolded entire dated 1840 (Sep 9) addressed to Plymouth, double-ring "MORE / TO /PAY" handstamp below, some marginal creases between the stamps, fine. A sensational and extremely rare strip, thought to be the largest recorded vertical strip known on
cover, a showpiece of the highest calibre.
