1936 KGV 1 1/2d memorial essays, eight vertical pairs (eight imperf) on archive piece entitled "Coated paper", with four on the left endorsed "first etch" and four on the right endorsed "second etch" (which resulted in a deepening of the
colour), printed on gummed, watermarked block cypher paper in blue-grey, dark grey, dark blue-grey and red-brown. These essays were produced by Harrison & Sons at the request of the Post Master General were submitted on 29th January 1936 and were
proposed to be sold at 2d each with the proceed going to the KGV Jubilee trust. The stamps were printed in sheetlets of six and the remaining blocks of four reside in the National Postal Museum. A marvellous showpiece for the KGV collector and unique
