5337 image1904/08: 1 d. grey-black & carmine, a used example on 1907 cover to Exeter, lightly cancelled on despatch, carried on the S.S. Jebba of the African Steamship Co. which ran aground in fog at Bolt Tail on the South Devon Coast on March 18th. Struck with "SALVED FROM / S S JEBBA" in violet and reverse resealed with marginal selvedge, the adhesive heavily cancelled at Exeter (March 20) and readdressed to Wells. The four other coloured Die Proofs were all in the Brain Brookes collection (2018), this being the sole example he did not manage to secure for his outstanding collection.
