6496 imageRegno, usage of Sardinian adhesives 1862 (Feb 7): Double rate registered entire letter from Goito to Rome, endorsed "Via di Civitavecchia", bearing Sardinia IV. emission 20 c. blue and 40 c. red-carmine (2), overall fine and fresh adhesives with vibrant colours, the margins shaved as usual for the Goito post office, tied by crisp strikes of ASSICURATO straight line handstamp or GOITO cds, both in black, information strike alongside. Left 40 c. adhesive with light vertical file fold just mentioned for accuracy, the most attractive franking of 100 centesimi paying correctly the Shipmail double rate of twice 30 c. plus 40 c. registration fee until the Papal border. 6500 imageRegno, usage of Sardinian adhesives 1861 (Nov 3): Cover from Lavagna to Buenos Ayres, Argentina, endorsed "Via di Inghilterra", bearing Sardinia IV. emission 80 c. 'giallo arancio chiaro' and 20 c. 'azzuro scurrisimo', two fine adhesives with good to large margins, some marginal toning spots just mentioned for accuarcy, tied by LAVAGNA cds (Sassone GE = 5 punti), information strike and oval "P.P." alongside. Obverse struck in addition by French "ITALIE LANSLEBOURG 6 NOV 61" entry cds and "LONDON PAID NO 7 61" transit cds, both in red. Reverse with Genova and Torino transit (Nov 3/4) cds's. Light horizontal file fold well away from the franking, a correctly paid single rate letter sent via France and Great Britain in the tariff of 1857. It seems that the letter was given by the British agent at the port of Buenos Ayres directly to the receiver, as no Argentinian due was added. An appealing cover full of postal history. Certs. E. Information strike, ASSICURATO straight line handstamp in black and French "ITALIE LANSLEBOURG 5 OCT 61" entry cds in red alongside. Reverse with Torino transit and Paris arrival cds's. Cover shortened on three sides, wax seals removed, nevertheless a most interesting franking of 130 centesimi, paying correctly the double rate of twice 40 c. plus 50 c. registration fee. 'verde cupo' in a horizontal pair (vertical pre-use fold between the stamps) in mixed franking with single Italy Regno I. emission 80 c. 'giallo arancio' (tiny marginal tear at lower left), otherwise fine and fresh adhesives, tied by Palermo cds in black, framed "P.D." in black alongside. Reverse with Milano & Como transit, Chur - Zürich ambulant as well as St. Petersburg arrival (Aug 2, julian) cds's. The Prussian weiterfranko to Russia is noted in blue crayon with 'f3' (silbergroschen). The cover was turned and sent within St. Petersburg. In spite of its limitations, an appealing and interesting cover to this rare destination. Underpaid by 10 centesimi but not taxed when routed via Switzerland, signed A. Diena & G. Bolaffi; cert. E. 6510 imageRegno, combination usage of Sardinian and Italian adhesives 1868 (May 22): Entire letter written in Rome but despatched in Florence and directed to Perugia, bearing Sardinia IV. emission 5 c. green in an extraordinary mixed franking with Italy De La Rue 1863 (Dec) 15 c. 'celeste chiaro', two fine and fresh adhesives with the handwritten note "Francobolli fuori d'uso" at right. The DLR adhesive was obviously already used and shows a weak "P.D." handstamp in red, the Matraire adhesive was not cancelled at all. Despatch "FIRENZE UFo SUCCURSALE N. 1 22 MAG 68" cds at right. Reverse with PERUGIA arrival cds in red of the next day. The cover was regarded as completely unpaid and taxed with '3' decimi, 1.5 times the missing franking. Some insect bite on reverse, nevertheless a most interesting entire sent from the the administration of cardinal Borromeo, the Matraire definitive used more than five years after is devaluation. 'verde chiaro smorto' and 40 c. red-carmine, a single adhesive and a horizontal strip of three in mixed franking with Italy Regno 1863 15 c. blue type II in a horizontal pair, the left stamp showing variety 'linea orizzontale non interrotta sotto la Q', seven overall fine and fresh adhesives with vivid colours, tied by four strikes of OSIMO cds in black, straight-line ASSICURATA handstamp alongside. Reverse with ANCONA transit cds and octagonal BOLOGNA arrival datestamp. Backflap missing, one 40 c. adhesive with a pre-use fold, one shaved at left, nevertheless a most interesting, appealing and rare 'patriotic' usage to pay the 195 centesimi rate with 15 c. postage, 30 c. registration fee and 15 times 10 c. for each 100 lire insured.
