19657 postfrisch (never hinged) ** ähnlich 320-28 image85 ! ECKERLIN PLATE ESSAYS for Romania 1928 King Michael issue "GROSSHERZOG MICHAEL VERSUCHS-MARKE", printed in 1928 on gummed paper, 15 with a reversed negative image printed in carmine-red and 69 printed with a normal positive image in vermilion colour + one colour sample stamp of "RUCO of EPPSTEIN i/T" (the producer of the printing colours used by Eckerlin for these essays; a company that still manufactures printing colours today). These stamps were used as samples in hope of selling Dr. Eckerlin's rotary press process for intaglio printing (developed by Herbst & Illig in Germany) to the Romanian Post. EXTREMELY RARE ESSAYS. Michael I (25 October 1921-5 December 2017) was the last King of Romania and 7 years old at the time of these essays. THIS LOT REPRESENTS THE RARE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY THE ENTIRE STOCK OF THESE ESSAYS IN EXISTANCE. They have been consigned to us by a descendant of Eckerlin´s printing company.
