In China the relieving American Forces introduced a hand-stamp to indicate that the mail enclosed was internee mail and therefore passed free of postage. All mail to Europe was routed via India. Very fine and scarce item from Polish lnternee at Great Western Road Camp (otherwise known as Columhba Country Club). Many refugees from outside China were interned there. The Chinese People's Liberation Army controlled Harbin causing a break down in postal communications, the mail has reached Changchun in Manchuria but the Nationalists who controlled this area 'blocked' the letter from going on.
