image 1869 Pictorials 15c Landing of Columbus as the adopted design but with Smaller '15' at the Base monocolour die proof in (milk) chocolate-brown with tiny imprint 'NATIONAL BANK NOT CO NY' 10mm below the design, on India paper (62x50mm) affixed to a recessed piece of thin card (77x65mm) Scott 118-E3, Cat US$5000. Superb. Ex the Earl of Crawford and Falk Finkelburg (1999) where described as "orange-brown", which Blind Freddy can see is incorrect. Which is funny because a notice in the catalogue states "Due to inconsistencies in colour nomenclature and listings, we have sometimes deviated from the Scott catalogue"! Sold in 1999 for US$5775 (= A$9000 approximately at the time).
