RED OVERPRINT: 'L.T.' on Rouletted 2d bright vermilion, rouletting on all sides and cut from the sheet to preserve the design at left & the base, GPO cds of MY22/68. Rated RR: unrecorded unused. [Date range 22.5.1868 to 5.10.1868]
RED OVERPRINT: 'L.T ' (with Stop Omitted after 'T ') on Rouletted 2d bright vermilion, rouletting on all sides, GPO cds of MY28/69. Rated RR: unrecorded unused. Superb. [Date range 7.4.1868 to 28.5.1869. The overlapping dates with the normal overprint & with both being rated RR suggests that both sub-types were printed in similar numbers, perhaps in alternating formes or a similar number of sheets? Unless a large block with both sub-types is found, this aspect may never be resolved]
RED OVERPRINT: 'L.T ' (with Stop Omitted after 'T ') on Rouletted 2d bright vermilion vertical pair, rouletting on all sides and between, minor oxidisation, on small piece with very fine GPO cds of MR19/69. Rated RR+. A technically significant piece, adding weight to the suggestion that the No Stop stamps are from a separate forme or sheet. Colonel Harry Napier (III) had a similar pair.
RED OVERPRINT: 'L.T ' (with Stop Omitted after 'T ') on Rouletted 2d bright vermilion, rouletting on all sides, blob of writing-ink at lower-left, tied to OHMS cover endorsed "Deed only/EA Heath" & with unusual 'L.T.O.' imprint at lower-left by GPO cds of DE4/68, light Kapunda arrival b/s of the same day, the cover with minor soiling & a small repaired tear at upper-right clear of the stamp. Number 1 of the four 'L.T' covers recorded in Anthony Pregrave's Census, and the only one with a Red Overprint. [The 'L.T.O.' imprint was probably quickly replaced because of the inevitable Telegraph Office connotations]
William Hoare Benham practised law at Kapunda for more than 50 years. He married the daughter of his partner, James Huggins, & they had 11 children of which three of the four daughters achieved unusual successes: the botanist & educator Ellen Ida; and the artists Loui and Amie. In 1871, Huggins was bankrupted.

RED OVERPRINT: 'L.T.' on Rouletted 1/- bright red-brown, rouletting on all sides, a couple of minor tonespots on the reverse, GPO cds of 1874. Rated RRRR. Superior to the 'Besancon' example - with a couple of minor separation faults - that sold for SFr265. [Date range 7.6.1871 to 28.7.1874, suggesting they were little used or perhaps misplaced and brought into service later]
BLUE OVERPRINT: 'L.T.' on De La Rue Crown/SA Wmk Rouletted 2d bright red-orange, rouletting on all sides, separation fault at lower-right, large-part o.g. Rated RRRR. The very fine 'Besancon' example sold for SFr1150.
BLUE OVERPRINT: 'L.T.' on De La Rue Crown/SA Wmk Rouletted 2d bright red-orange horizontal strip of 3 from the base of the sheet with marginal watermark line, rouletting on all sides & between, GPO cds of SP3/69. Rated R+: a very scarce multiple. The similar 'Besancon' strip of 3 with the Watermark Reversed sold for SFr180. [Date range 18.11.1868 to 23.4.1870]
BLACK OVERPRINT: 'L.T.' on De La Rue Crown/SA Wmk Rouletted 2d bright red-orange with the Watermark Reversed, rouletting except at left where cut clear of the design, GPO cds of JU14/70. Rated RR: unrecorded unused by Ron Butler. [Date range 4.6.1870 to 15.4.1874]

BLACK OVERPRINT: 'L.T.' on Irregular Compound Perf 10x11½-12½x11½-12½x11½-12½ 4d deep purple, minor corner crease at lower-left & some toned perf-tips, light GPO cds of DE5/73. Rated RRRR: unrecorded unused. [Date range 27.11.1873 to 6.4.1874]
BLACK OVERPRINT: 'L.T.' on Perf 11½-12½ 4d deep purple (rated R) tied to OHMS cover with 'Lands [sic] Titles Registration Office' imprint at lower-left by GPO cds of SP13/71, to "Hope Valley Lodge/AIO Odd Fellows/Paradise" with light 'CAMPBELLTOWN/SP13/71/SA' b/s, the cover with minor problems. The stamp rated R. Ex Rev James Mursell and Garven Thomas. Number 2 of the four 'L.T' covers recorded in Anthony Pregrave's Census, & one of only two with the 4d.
With the enclosed 'MEMORIAL' of the names of the trustees & secretary of the Lodge, superb 'REGISTRAR GENERAL/[arms]/SOUTH AUSTRALIA' at the base. The Ancient Independent Order of Oddfellows, with American origins, champions charity & philanthropy. Many members are also freemasons. Paradise, NE of Adelaide, was founded by Joseph Ind in 1837. His son, George Frederick Ind, signed the Memorial as Secretary. Hope Valley was principally settled by German immigrants & four of the five listed Trustees have Germanic names.
