FRENCH COLONIES
LotNo. Symbol Lot Description
1709 *0 FRENCH COLONIES - EXCEPTIONAL COLLECTION French Empire at one stage in the 1920s covered close to 9% of the land mass of an entire planet and this vastness is suitably expressed through this outstanding collection containing roughly 30,000 different mostly mint stamps housed in four Scott albums. The collection represents approximately 1,500 pages of philatelic blissfulness as it covers literally every French colonial possession and offices abroad from Afars & Issas going all the way to Wallis & Futuna. The early period in every subsection is covered to a great extent and with true philatelic dedication including many minor varieties, but also as importantly the major varieties are generally of very high quality whether talking about centering or gum. The collection is mostly focused on the proper colonial period as it includes a plethora of complete mint sets from the 19th century and goes on into the mid 1970s terminating once the mass de colonization process took place in the 1960s. Due to the vastness of the collection it is hard to adequately present its beauty and such an accumulation of highly desirable philatelic rarities, we scanned 260 pages (roughly 1/6 of the lot), but this only showcases some of the more desirable sets as the remaining 1,300 pages are all of extremely high standard as well. If one is inclined to go down a rabbit hole seeking out specific sets included, we include by no means an exhaustive list of premium sets and singles with catalogue value exceeding hundred dollars. Important to note that this list covers only half of the collection as it goes from Afars & Issas to Gabon (the list includes only half of collection and only mint versions with the remaining two books covering Grand Comoro Islands going to Wallis and Futuna are of extremely high standard) all mint - Alaouites #1-15, 46-49, Algeria #33-67, 78a (imperf pair), B14-26, Anjouan #1-19, Annam & Tonkin #7-9, Benin #1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 10,11, 12, 14, 16, 20-32, 33-45, Cambodia #1-17, 15a-17a, Cameroun #102, 103, 104, 108, 110, 111, 115, 116, 117, 118, 122, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 170-211, B7-B9, B14-15, B21-25, Chad #1-18, Congo People's Republic #208-13, C10, Dahomey #1-16, 17-31, Diego Suarez #16, 25-37, 38-50, France Offices in China #65-73, J38, Canton #2A, 14, 48-64, 65-81, Hoi Hao #1-15, 47, Kwangchowan #17, 35, Mongtseu #1-15, 49, 50, Pakhoi #12, Tchongking #13, 16, 33, 34-50, Yunnan Fou #11, Offices in Crete #16-20, Offices in Egypt Alexandria #15, 16-30, 43, 44, 45, Port Said #1-15, 49-50, 56-69, J8a, Offices in Turkey #7, 32, Cavalle #1-8, Port Lagos #5, 6, Offices in Zanzibar #11, 12, 13, 16, 17-28, 39-49, French Colonies #1-6, 13, 33, 46-59, J1-14, French Congo #2, 3, 11, 18-34, 52, French Equatorial Africa #B10-11, B12-21, C9-16, French Guiana #5, 6, 8, 13, 15, 16, 17, 28, 28a, 29, 30, 32-50, French Guinea #1-17, 33-47, French India #1-19, 54-79, 115, 117-23,124-34, 191-209, French Morocco #6, 7, 8, 11-22, 55-71, C1-11, J6-J9, French Polynesia #1-20, 21-54, 72-75, 126-35, C17-19, C89-93, C107-11, French Sudan #3-19, Gabon #1, 2, 3, 47, 124-47 . (This is by no means an exhaustive list, no used issues, going only up to G, and only singles or sets exceeding $100 catalog value) and so much more with highly complete Reunion, St. Pierre & Miquelon, Wallis & Futuna and more. This is a fantastic collection of a lifetime put together by a dedicated collector as no expense was spared in order to form this gem of a collection. The lot should appeal to dealers looking for break down and resale value, but from a philatelic point of view it would be a pity to break a collection like this as one does not come across a collection so comprehensively covering such a broad (and expensive!) subject, gen. VERY FINE, mint og, many NH (We scanned 260 pages, roughly 1/6 of the lot) (Scan a) (Scan b) (Scan c) (Scan d) (Scan e) (Scan f) (Scan g) (Scan h) (Scan i) (Scan j) (Scan k) (Scan l) (Scan m) (Scan n) (Scan o) (Scan p) (Scan q) (Scan r) (Scan s) (Scan t) (Scan u) (Scan v) (Scan w) (Scan x) (Scan y) (Scan z) (Scan a1) (Scan b1) (Scan c1) (Scan d1) (Scan e1) (Scan f1) (Scan g1) (Scan h1) (Scan i1) (Scan j1) (Scan k1) (Scan l1) (Scan m1) (Scan n1) (Scan o1) (Scan p1) (Scan q1) (Scan r1) (Scan s1) (Scan t1) (Scan u1) (Scan v1) (Scan w1) (Scan x1) (Scan y1) (Scan z1) (Scan a2) (Scan b2) (Scan c2) (Scan d2) (Scan e2) (Scan f2) (Scan g2) (Scan h2) (Scan i2) (Scan j2) (Scan k2) (Scan l2) (Scan m2) (Scan n2) (Scan o2) (Scan p2) (Scan q2) (Scan r2) (Scan s2) (Scan t2) (Scan u2) (Scan v2) (Scan w2) (Scan x2) (Scan y2) (Scan z2) (Scan a3) (Scan b3) (Scan c3) (Scan d3) (Scan e3) (Scan f3) (Scan g3) (Scan h3) (Scan i3) (Scan j3) (Scan k3) (Scan l3) (Scan m3) (Scan n3) (Scan o3) (Scan p3) (Scan q3) (Scan r3) (Scan s3) (Scan t3) (Scan u3) (Scan v3) (Scan w3) (Scan x3) (Scan y3) (Scan z3) (Scan a4) (Scan b4) (Scan c4) (Scan d4) (Scan e4) (Scan f4) (Scan g4) (Scan h4) (Scan i4) (Scan j4) (Scan k4) (Scan l4) (Scan m4) (Scan n4) (Scan o4) (Scan p4) (Scan q4) (Scan r4) (Scan s4) (Scan t4) (Scan u4) (Scan v4) (Scan w4) (Scan x4) (Scan y4) (Scan z4) (Scan a5) (Scan b5) (Scan c5) (Scan d5) (Scan e5) (Scan f5) (Scan g5) (Scan h5) (Scan i5) (Scan j5) (Scan k5) (Scan l5) (Scan m5) (Scan n5) (Scan o5) (Scan p5) (Scan q5) (Scan r5) (Scan s5) (Scan t5) (Scan u5) (Scan v5) (Scan w5) (Scan x5) (Scan y5) (Scan z5) (Scan a6) (Scan b6) (Scan c6) (Scan d6) (Scan e6) (Scan f6) (Scan g6) (Scan h6) (Scan i6) (Scan j6) (Scan k6) (Scan l6) (Scan m6) (Scan n6) (Scan o6) (Scan p6) (Scan q6) (Scan r6) (Scan s6) (Scan t6) (Scan u6) (Scan v6) (Scan w6) (Scan x6) (Scan y6) (Scan z6) (Scan a7) (Scan b7) (Scan c7) (Scan d7) (Scan e7) (Scan f7) (Scan g7) (Scan h7) (Scan i7) (Scan j7) (Scan k7) (Scan l7) (Scan m7) (Scan n7) (Scan o7) (Scan p7) (Scan q7) (Scan r7) (Scan s7) (Scan t7) (Scan u7) (Scan v7) (Scan w7) (Scan x7) (Scan y7) (Scan z7) (Scan a8) (Scan b8) (Scan c8) (Scan d8) (Scan e8) (Scan f8) (Scan g8) (Scan h8) (Scan i8) (Scan j8) (Scan k8) (Scan l8) (Scan m8) (Scan n8) (Scan o8) (Scan p8) (Scan q8) (Scan r8) (Scan s8) (Scan t8) (Scan u8) (Scan v8) (Scan w8) (Scan x8) (Scan y8) (Scan z8) (Scan a9) (Scan b9) (Scan c9) (Scan d9) (Scan e9) (Scan f9) (Scan g9) (Scan h9) (Scan i9) (Scan j9) (Scan k9) (Scan l9) (Scan m9) (Scan n9) (Scan o9) (Scan p9) (Scan q9) (Scan r9) (Scan s9) (Scan t9) (Scan u9) (Scan v9) (Scan w9) (Scan x9) (Scan y9) (Scan z9) (All Scans) CLOSED
