Bohn (Chronicle 143, Aug. 1989, p. 112) states "In theory, printed matter sent from the U.S. to France in the British open mails during this period should also have received the "GB/1FPK" accountancy marking previously employed during the first three months of 1857 (Period V above). However, no examples have been reported", this unsealed envelope which must have contained printed matter is such an example, ex "Andromeda" (Image)
