image 10c Dark Green, First Design (62B). Deep rich color, used with 10c Green (68) and 1c Blue (63), tied by red grid cancels, red "New York Am. Pkt. Nov. 2" (1861) circular datestamp on folded letter to Amsterdam, Netherlands, sender's route directive "Via Liverpool" at lower left, red London (Nov. 19) and receiving (Nov. 21) backstamps, manuscript rates, part of address scratched out and expertly restored

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE FRANKING WITH THE 10-CENT FIRST DESIGN, SCOTT 62B, AND 10-CENT 1861 ISSUE, SCOTT 68, ON A COVER TO AMSTERDAM. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED SUCH FRANKING TO THIS DESTINATION.

Pkt. 21 Mar 8" debit datestamp, 1sh postage due paid by Brown Shipley & Co., who added forwarding postage paid by wing-margin horizontal pair of Great Britain 4p Victoria stamps tied by "Liverpool 22 MR 62" circular datestamp and "466" ovals, forwarder's oval handstamp, French transits, cover slightly reduced at right, still Very Fine and rare use, the 1c stamp was probably intended to pay the carrier fee to the N.Y. post office, ex Bailar (Image)
