Aug 25, 1885" cds adjacent on legal-size cover with preprinted address to Milwaukee Wisc.; filing creases, Very Fine and rare example of a reported infraction cover.
Scott No. 210; Estimate $300 - 400.

This cover was originally mailed with the 2¢ stamp uncancelled and the receiving postmaster at Milwaukee asked the bank for the envelope back after delivering. It was sent the Third Assistant Postmaster as evidence to report the offending Warren Mills Postmaster. The 3rd Assistant cancelled the stamp, and with the envelope as evidence no doubt issued a strong reprimand.
