70, 1862 24c Red lilac, single (misperf with portion of imprint at bottom) franking tied by cog wheel cancel with accompanying San Francisco May 2 1864 cds alongside, on an envelope addressed to Glasgow Scotland originating in Vancouver Island, nicely struck blue "Post Office/ Victorian Vancouver Island/ Paid" oval handstamp, red "3/ New York Am Pkt/ May 23" debit plus red London Ju 9 64 "Paid" transit cancels, backstamped Glasgow JU 10 64, opened at top and with small sealed edge break above stamp, some light tone spots, edge wear, Fine use; the 24c stamp was applied at Victoria but cancelled, as usual, in San Francisco, and paid the rate to England (Image)
