Desperate Bayonet Charge at Battle of Winchester, March 23, led by Gen Tyler, large all-over design on stampless cover with Saint Denis, Md July 1 postmark and straightline "PAID 3" handstamp, addressed to Freeland, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; accompanied by enclosure datelined June 30, 1863, from Lieut. A.H. Kline noting the 138th Regiment "is at Harpers Ferry at present the Rebs is at South Mountain About fourty thousand strong whe expect a battal this weak" (original spelling) and requesting money be sent to his new wife at Baltimore; cover slightly reduced at right, otherwise sound, Fine to Very Fine.
