image 19th Century English Documents, thirteen including five mortgages, one legal document and seven wills or probate of wills including The Honorable William Ponsonby (this is reported to be that of Major General William Ponsonby who died at Waterloo in 1814 (see his wikipedia page); but the annexed portion is dated 1854 so we have concerns), many with revenue stamps, also includes 1741 document with 10p revenue handstamp at top left and three 6p embossed revenue stamps at top center folded and mailed, Fine to Very Fine, these are beautiful and large parchments folded into manageable sizes. image Postal Service Training School Stamps. A total of 11 defaced Postage Dues used on printed Training Class Lessons 4 and 5. Lesson 4 is in 8 parts, each part individually cut from the lesson sheet and mounted on (3) album pages. It has a total of nine Postage Dues, six of them defaced with two horizontal bars, the other three—a pair of 4d and a single 1s—are overprinted "SCHOOL SPECIMEN". All are tied by handstamped c.d.s. "LPS/PHG Course/13/A/20 SP/60", with appropriate handstamped & manuscript markings. Lesson 5, consisting of seven parts, is on a large two-sided sheet, part 5 including 1d & 5d bar-defaced Postage Dues; again the lessons all having appropriate handstamps, Postal Service auxiliary labels and the same c.d.s., this time dated 20 Sep. Also includes a letter with interesting background info from Michael Furfie, author of the book, British Postage Due Mail, 1914-71. A most unusual, seldom seen group. (Image)
