Marion, Va., 1861, 10¢ black (Scott 55X2), with manuscript "X" cancel affixed to reverse across the flap of folded letter datelined "Marion Nov. 2nd 1862" with bold "PAID 10" straightline cancel at top right and "Marion Va Nov. 3" circular datestamp at bottom left, addressed to Mssrs. Jones & Miller Lynchburg Va., business contents from Look & Lincoln; the stamp damaged upon opening, and repaired with the left edge of the letter being neatly moved to the right to keep the stamp intact, lovely Extremely Fine appearance, with 2021 Pascal Scheller certificate. Barret in Kingston Tenn., ex-Heathcote (?), Freeland (?), Dr. Graves, Hill, D.K. & Richard Warren 7) Nov. 3, 1862, to Messrs. Jones & Miller in Lynchburg Va., ex Worthington (sale was in the year 1917); beautifully described in "Surveys of the Confederate Postmasters' Provisionals" by Francis J.
