51 c image1893 MONTREAL REGISTERED DOUBLE RATE to USA, a fabulous franking #41,F3 legally pays the 5¢ USA registration fee + 6¢ double USA letter rate (2 x 3¢ per oz), on cover dated MAY22-1893 to Boston, the only way most collectors will own a legitimate 8¢ RLS use on cover as only a few of the 1876-1877 covers exist and these are priced at $20,000, both stamps have somewhat similar cork cancels plus the 3¢ stamp is tied by the "R" registration cancel while the 8¢ is not tied, a VF single #F3 catalogs $450 alone so this is a great unique item in either real or altered state, F-VF as-is est ($375+ US) (Image) C$500+
