2573		MAURITIUS - 1835 (3 Jun) EL written at Port Louis to Bordeaux bearing a fair strike of a previously unrecorded 'POST OFFICE / JUIN 1â‚¬ 183â‚¬ / MAURITIUS' large circular date stamp, the cover endorsed 'pr Nouvelle Louise' with framed 'PAYS D'OUTREMER' and manuscript '10' (decimes) local French delivery charge applied over the date stamp; on reverse the Bordeaux 14 Sept 1835 arrival datestamp. Further research is required, the French 'Juin' suggests that one possibility is that this handstamp may have been an attempt at a new type which was swiftly withdrawn as it would have been against PO regulations, another that this was a locally produced agents handstamp for French mail.
