1809 imageCOOK IS. - 1898 REGISTERED COVER TO SYDNEY (May) to Hambly in Sydney, bearing Queen 1d, 2½d, 5d and 10d, (plus a cut out space presumably where a 1½d once sat), all tied by Rarotonga cds, violet Burge type A1 used as a registration stamp with manuscript date, plus violet "R" alongside; a rare and unrecorded provisional use of the canceller used as a registration mark.

We see a Complete bottom right half pane of 30 stamps (margins to left and base) showing the recurring varieties on rows 1 - 5 of the setting. Trimmed perfs to the right side, never hinged mint.
