5120 imageARGENTINA - 1898 BEAUTIFUL BOUND VOLUME OF "SPECIMEN" STAMPS AND POSTAL STATIONERY "VALORES POSTALES ARGENTINOS VOL. II" edited by C. Carles, containing a lovely range of late 19th century mint stamps with values to 1p50, wrappers, envelopes, and 1896-97 postal cards and reply cards, many of these illustrated, and with all stamps and stationery items overprinted "MUESTRA" (Specimen). The volume is in effect a little hardback book approx 50mm thick with 337 pages on shiny printed paper, and is in very good condition for its age. (contains 14 stamps plus 63 cards/reply cards, 4 wrappers, and 2 envelopes)

Plenty of early material for study - can see 1843 "Bull's Eyes" (21, all 3 values, chiefly forgeries), 1844-46 imperfs (37, covering all values, including a forged block of four of each value), 1850-61 Numeral imperfs (81, covering all values, including a forged block of four of most values), 1866 Numeral perfs (17, most values to 600r). And onwards with 1866-79 Dom Pedro range to 1,000r, good later 19th century, strong commemoratives from 1900 onwards including many mint sets, very good AIRS including 1931-32 Zeppelin surcharges (the 2500r on 200r on Graf Zeppelin cover to Germany), and useful Air Post Semi-Officials (note Scott 1CL9 mint); plus Postage Dues, Officials etc. Impressive! (approx 600 stamps plus 5 covers)
