A mostly used range presented on stock pages in an old Auction Folder, Offered as received as part of an Estate clearance, unchecked in close detail, but a quick flick through reveals a semi-sorted range with "Diadem" types to 1s, "Side-Face" types to 2s & different 5s, Postal Fiscal 10s, imperf proof 1853 type 6d brown & 8d blue, mint ranges to 10d, Official "O S" opt'd range to 1s used & 8d "Diadem" mint, later Stamp Duty range to £1 & $10, Postage Due to 4d used & NSW punctured range to 1s. Some mixed condition with much being fine, warrants closer inspection. (guess 500+ stamps)

5157 imageAUSTRALIAN STATES - NEW SOUTH WALES CROSS- BORDER PROVISIONAL USE 1860 (8 Oct) entire letter from Ipswich (in Queensland) to Tenterfield (in NSW) with address partly ink obscured, bearing NSW 1854-59 6d olive-grey SG 95 (instead of a Queensland stamp) tied by light "87" numeral cancel, plus "Ipswich", "Warwick" & "Maryland" transit cds's on reverse. The cover bears the 6d inter-colony rate, a scarce example of cross-border co-operation.

With big range of 1d, 2d and 6d 'imperfs' (probably later issues with perfs trimmed); 1860-1880 perf range to 2s mint (plus 5s no gum) and to 20s used (this with fiscal cancel), plus "REGISTERED" (6d) orange-yellow overprinted "SPECIMEN" mint; 1879-81 range to 1s mint and used; 1882-1911 Large QV range to £1 mint and postally used; 1882-95 range to 1s (2) mint and 2s used; and onwards with good later ranges. Great lot for the specialist! (approx 150 stamps)
