 SOUTH AFRICA -COLS & REPS - ORANGE FREE STATE 1896 "Halve Penny." on 3d ultramarine surcharges (SG 77 etc.) - AN EXTENSIVE SPECIALIZED COLLECTION in hingeless mounts nicely written up on album pages, mint and used
- mostly fine mint, some never hinged. With various types, positional varieties (some within large multiples), misplaced overprints, etc. Can see at least seven "no stop" varieties (SG 78) including one used and four in combination with normals; at
least ten "Peuny" varieties (SG 79) including three in pairs with normal; numerous misplaced surcharges including several with bar at top or bar completely missing (note a never hinged mint strip of six); etc. Also two unissued "Halve Penny."
surcharges on ½d on 3d (SG 69 etc). Most impressive! (approx 280 stamps)(Image 1)
