AUSTRALIAN STATES - SOUTH AUSTRALIA 1860-69 1s olive- yellow - for years this shade was deemed to have been an issued colour however the source of this stamp was the wreck of the "Colombo" where the mail had lain
submerged for 3 months and the salt water had altered the brown stamp ink to this shade. Various faults as to be expected, this with very fine Adelaide 25 Oc 62 cds (the correct date)(Image 1) |
