1346 ngbl Image1859, 1p Carmine (7). Positions 41 thru 100, block of 60 comprising the bottom six rows from the sheet of 100, unused (no gum), intense shade and bright fresh paper, large margins with sheet margins on three sides, a few folds mostly between the stamps

EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS THE LARGEST RECORDED MULTIPLE OF THE ONE-PESO 1859 FIRST ISSUE OF COLOMBIA. ONE OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR AND IMPORTANT ITEMS OF CLASSIC SOUTH AMERICAN PHILATELY.

This remarkable block of 60 of the 1859 One-Peso was never part of the major Colombia collections formed by Newbury, Larsen, Burrus or Neuburger. It was offered at auction in the 2009 Investphila sale of the "Juan Santa Maria" collection and was acquired by Gordon N. John. The next largest size block of this issue is the block of 40 offered as lot 1347 in this sale.
