VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT BLUE LITHOGRAPH USED TO PAY THE PRE-JULY 1, 1862 RATE ON A SMALL GENERAL BEAUREGARD PATRIOTIC COVER -- A LOVELY "BLUE ON BLUE" COMBINATION AND ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED EXAMPLES IN BLUE.
The C.S.A. Catalog states that only one example of the Beauregard design is known in blue. There is one other which is a stampless cover with postage due, offered in lot 171.
