AN EXTREMELY RARE INTACT ROOSEVELT PRESENTATION ALBUM. VERY FEW ARE INTACT, AS MOST HAVE BEEN BROKEN TO FEED DEMAND FOR INDIVIDUAL PROOFS OR SETS.

In 1903, during the Theodore Roosevelt administration, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prepared 85 special presentation albums with small die proofs on white wove paper of all issues printed to that date. The proofs were artfully arranged in albums, and most of the albums were given to government officials.

Very few Roosevelt presentation albums remain intact. Most have been cannibalized for collectors demanding specific sets.

Scott value as individual cut-down proofs with no premium for the intact pages or complete album $76,455.00 (Image)

Stuart" embossed on front cover and "United States Postage Stamps From 1847 Proofs 1878" on spine, inside page with illustrated Continental Bank Note Company design, contains a proof of every United States stamp issued from 1847 thru Continental Bank Note period, including Eagle and Franklin Carrier, Newspaper and Officials complete, 1847-1869 and a few others are hybrids, each page with interleaving, the album and proofs are all in pristine condition with very trivial edgewear on cover (much less than is usually found on albums of this nature)

EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE AND BEAUTIFUL COMPLETE CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY PRESENTATION ALBUM. A WONDERFUL ARTIFACT OF THE ERA OF SECURITY ENGRAVING AND PRINTING.

Security printers' presentation albums were specially made for a variety of people, generally potential customers and dignitaries. Many have been broken by dealers for the value of the individual proofs; therefore, intact albums such as the volume offered here are rare. (Image)
