2004 ng Image3c Playing Cards, Imperforate (R17a). Unused (no gum), full and balanced margins all around, outstanding color that is uncommonly deep and rich, highly detailed impression, just the faintest suggestion of a thin spot

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A HIGHLY DESIRABLE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 3-CENT IMPERFORATE PLAYING CARDS ISSUE.

A review using Power Search reveals that this is only the second unused example of this stamp we have offered in our sales going back to 1993 and in our Rarities sales since 1966. We are aware of one other, offered in the Cunliffe collection in 2008. It seems inevitable that the Scott Catalogue will begin to price First thru Third Issue unused Revenues. In that event, the catalogue value for an unused 3c Playing Cards Imperforate stamp will be far greater than that of a used example.

With 1954 letter from Philip Ward, Jr. and with 2016 P.F. certificate (Image)

Lightened manuscript cancel, added perf at bottom right and tiny corner crease at top right, these flaws are far less serious than usually found, Fine appearance, with 2016 P.F. certificate, the Scott Catalogue notes "Nearly all examples of No. R31 are faulty and poorly centered.
