Wide margins and outstanding centering, detailed impression, Extremely Fine Gem, "Mrs. Winslow's Soothing Syrup" is infamous in the history of 19th Century patent medicine as the "baby killer", it was marketed by Jeremiah Curtis, the son-in-law of pediatric nurse Charlotte N. Winslow and contained a level of morphine which was lethal to infants and even larger children, it has been estimated that thousands of children died or suffered withdrawal after being administered the syrup (see lot 596 for examples of Mrs. Winslow's trade cards) (Image)
