Jun. 15 2-1/2PM" carrier department octagonal datestamp on unsealed Leeds patent envelope to a Philadelphia street address, embossed "Postmark Patent June 19, 1860" at center, second strike of datestamp at right over "window" hole in envelope so contents received dated postmark, in this case contents is one piece of paper to demonstrate the process, light vertical file folds, Very Fine and rare, especially with the Philadelphia carrier datestamp and 1c 1857 Type I stamp (Image)

Jul. 12, 1858" circular datestamp on cover to Austin Tex., addressed to "Swantee Palm", another name for Swen Jaensson, a Swedish immigrant who served as postmaster of La Grange and Austin at different times, the small envelope has a printed woodcut illustration of soldiers in front of building with mounted officer and U.S. flag, "J.W.O.P.P." imprint at bottom, missing backflap, Very Fine, a beautiful and rare design that we have not encountered before, this is probably a depiction of a military academy in La Grange (Image)
