Full to large margins, just shaving frame line at top left, black grid cancel on 1850 folded cover to Scituate Mass., blue "Norton Ms. Oct. 24" circular datestamp and matching "5" handstamp, manuscript "forwarded" and "Scituate Mass. Oct. 26" manuscript postmark, additional "5" written below handstamp and totaled to "10", the presence of the 5c handstamp, often a signal to collectors that this was originally a stampless cover, must have been used to indicate a short-paid letter, as the stamp was splattered with the same blue ink of the circular datestamp and "5" (and which is elsewhere on the lettersheet), thus establishing that the stamp was placed there by the Norton postmaster at the time of mailing, and which also eliminates the possibility that this was done enroute, docketing indicates the cover was received, but where it went after Scituate is not indicated, Fine, a scarce and intriguing combination use, ex Stollnitz, with 1981 P.F. certificate (Image)
