1293° ogbl ImageGRIQUALAND WEST, 1877, 1p Rose (2; SG 2). Block of thirty with wing margin at left, most stamps Mint N.H., remarkably bright and fresh, some natural gum creases, a few separated perfs sensibly reinforced with hinges

FINE. A PHENOMENAL ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF THIRTY OF GRIQUALAND NO. 2. AN IMPORTANT RARITY THAT IS PERFECT FOR EXHIBITION.

Even a single original-gum example of this stamp is elusive. Blocks of any size are rare. This block of thirty is truly remarkable, not only for its size, but also for its fresh state of preservation.

Ex Burrus (and has not been offered at auction since that sale). Conservatively catalogued as thirty singles, though that number does not reflect the value and rarity of such a large multiple. SG £22,500 (Image)
