III overprint, affixed to Ayre & Sons preprinted cover with corresponding "Blackhead, Newf'd, NO 2 97" circular datestamp to St. Johns, Railway T.P.O. and St. Johns arrival backstamps, central file fold not affecting stamps

FINE. A REMARKABLE 1897 3-CENTS ON ONE-CENT PROVISIONAL SE-TENANT STRIP OF TY. II-III-III USED ON COVER. LESS THAN A DOZEN COVERS ARE RECORDED USED DURING THE PROVISIONAL PERIOD.
