1016 bl ImageAUSTRIA, LOMBARDY-VENETIA, 1850, 30c Brown, Hand-Made Paper (5; Ferchenbauer 4; Sassone 7). Block of fourteen (7x2), large to full margins all around, deep rich color on fresh paper, four strikes of "Villa Franca 10/7" target datestamp, sealed tear at left mostly in margin between stamps and just affecting pos. 1, natural paperfold at top left

VERY FINE. A SPECTACULAR SHOWPIECE BLOCK OF FOURTEEN OF THE 30-CENTESIMI ON HAND-MADE PAPER. EASILY ONE OF THE LARGEST KNOWN MULTIPLES OBTAINABLE AND HIGHLIGHT OF ANY LOMBARDY-VENETIA COLLECTION OR EXHIBIT.

Multiples of this size, in any denomination of the 1850 issue, are seldom encountered. What is also remarkable is that despite the tear at left, this block is free from any creases or folds which plague large blocks from this time period.
