Original gum, lightly hinged, deep rich color on bright paper, well-proportioned margins, Extremely Fine, with 1995 and 2007 P.F. certificates (former as Mint N.H.) and 2007 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, XF 90; SMQ $500.00), this is the highest grade awarded to an OG example and only two in Mint N.H. condition have graded higher (Image)

EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1898 10-CENT BROWN TYPE I ISSUE. THIS STAMP IS GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. -- ONLY ONE IS GRADED HIGHER AND NO OTHERS SHARE THIS GRADE.

The 10c was changed from Green (Scott No. 273) to Brown because the 1c denomination (Scott No. 279) was changed to Green to meet the UPU color scheme.

With 2009 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $7,000.00). Only one has graded higher (at 98) and none share this grade. (Image)
