EXTREMELY FINE GEM EXAMPLE OF THE SCARCE $500.00 BLUE 1940 HANDSTAMPED OVERPRINT ISSUE. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE CANCELLED SOLELY BY THE HANDSTAMP.

The adjoining stamp, serial no. 8703, cancelled in the same manner, was sold in our 2012 auction of the Dr. Schauss collection. This issue is also not listed in Scott as unused. (Image)
