VERY FINE. AN ELUSIVE EXAMPLE OF THE JAMAICA 5-SHILLING LINE PERFORATED 14. ONE OF THE RAREST KING GEORGE VI STAMPS WITH APPROXIMATELY A DOZEN EXAMPLES KNOWN.

According to the Mahfood sale (Spink-Shreves, January 2011), this issue came about during the London Blitz when the offices of De La Rue & Co. were bombed, which destroyed the plant and all of its machinery with the exception of the stamps in the strong room. These were sent to Watford for perforating, of which a small portion were done on an old line machine.
