49 E 70,71,72 image1861 (May) large cover, actually a wrapper, with 24c gray lilac (2), 30c orange and 90c blue, canceled by bold segmented cork postmarks, with New Orleans, May 2, 61 cds alongside and below, addressed to "Clerk of the Probate Court of Madison County, Canton, Miss", endorsed alongside "Deposition of Joseph Hay, J. Hammon, K. Payne, David G. Cooke in matter of Estate of David Goodhue". Red crayon "1.68" confirms the franking, also "14" in blue crayon, some toning and cover/wrapper overall wrinkling, away from the stamps, which while off-centered, are mostly very good, undoubtedly rare domestic usage of the 90c (A census of 90c 1861-68 covers by Herzog and Starnes in the Chronicle 140 (November 1988), does not record this cover) (catalogue value for 90c on cover) cat. $25000 (Cat No. 70,71,72) (Image)
