279B, Tied by New York 1899 duplex cancels on a complete set of 12 diff multi-coloured postcards numbered 1-12, which were printed by the American Souvenir Card Co. of New York. Each postcard depicts diff ships of the U.S. Navy's "WHITE SQUADRON" - a name given to a group of newly built, steel hulled warships that played a key role in modernizing the American Navy in the late 19th Century. The ships were initially painted white. Incl ships like Atlanta, Texas, Columbia New York, Iowa, etc. All with matching addresses in Milan, Italy (with rec cancels). F, some toning on address sides otherwise lovely condition. VERY SCARCE SET (Image)
